alright...the bike has been running perfect until last week went to crank it...wouldnt crank for nothing and would backfire sometimes..got the valves checked and adjusted now it starts...NOW the problem is that its running lean i guess..when i shift down to slow down to set uup for a corner its jus pops non stop...sounds like its farting or something..what do i need to do? a guy stopped me on the track and said stop ridin that bike before you drop a valve on a face of a jump and hurt yourself..i mean it runs good just pops so i guess its running lean... any suggestions? im no mechanic that is why im askin yall?

Get a jd jetting jet kit. that will at least rule out any jetting problems.

Take your carb off your bike, and open up the float bowl. Take out the main jet and pilot jet and look for a number on them. Then go to your local Kawi dealer, and buy a few main and pilot jets that are just a tad bigger. That should richen up your bike, and make it run better. Do you have an easy adj air screw? If not, buy one of those for like $15 and you can make jetting changes on the track with no tools. Sometimes just a little bogging or backfiring can be fixed by playing with this handy tool.

If you raise the needle up a bit, you should be golden.

Wouldn't it be nice if they'd freaking hurry up with the fuel injection? Then we'll never have to deal with this nonsense again.

Sounds more like an exhaust leak to me. Have you had the exhaust off at anytime recently? A small leak at the header/head junction can really throw you right into trying to jet it out. Also hi-temp RTV at the headpipe/midpipe junction.

Also, try backing out the pilot screw a 1/4 turn see if that corrects the problem.
