lol chezzy I know....

Just traded MX vs Atv untamed, couple more 360 games, and about 6 games from PS2 to get it. On top of that I payed 11 bucks and let me say it is WELL WORTH IT! Finally an off road game that is based on realism....

I just got tired of the whole thing where you get about 900 feet of air and can corner on a bike as if was an F1 racing car. So props to you RonRon for helping make a kickass game!

I'm not sure what's going on with the online play though, as I haven't really been able to get into any games, but I'll keep trying. BTW, that one hillclimb is really kicking my ass right now (I can't climb the damn thing.... need new tires:eww:)

I have to agree. The graphics on PS3 aren't the greatest, but the realism is amazing. I tell you what, I HATED driving the 4x4's. I bet you're talking about the 4x4 hillclimb too. It was a pain in the arse. The online play seems to be good for PS3, easily accessable and easy to see what's going on in the rooms, although I haven't actually joined in on an online race yet.

The one thing I dont get is the H2O thing. I assume it's the radiator fluid? I'm not too sure. I upgrade my cooling and plumbing systems but it doesnt seem to help much. My H2O always goes out.

I love the crashes too. I had one on the 4x4 hillclimb where I made it to the top and completely rolled down to the bottom :rockon: haha. Another time I was in a 4 lap race (which apparently my 4x4 Jeep couldnt handle even with all the upgrades) and I was on Red on everything finishing up lap 3. Came around 1/2 way through lap 4 and got a flat so i stopped and fixed it only to get another flat one corner later. Had to finish 1/2 a lap with a flat!

Awesome game!

It is a bad ass game! I havent tried the online yet either but hopefully its good. Maybe we can all get on (360 users at least) and race a Baja 1000!

YES! It was one of the later series in the 4X4 class. And it was so steep (kind of a dark looking hill) and sandy that it just spun the wheels trying to go up, and eventually came back down the hill. What did you have to do to pass it?

That would be cool. BTW, can you race the 1,000 in sections? Or is the whole damn thing? :puppydog:

I had the Jeep at the time. I made sure I had the thing COMPLETELY modded out, and would come through the turn on the clutch and go up the far right side. Anytime I got below 20 mph i would hold the clutch a second and pop it for some extra umph!

Here's another question I have though. If this is supposed to be a realistic interpretation, why can we preload???

I like the physics, and the ability to somewhat upgrade certain parts of the car, but i'm just a bit suprised that it's possible to bring out a next generation game that graphically looks, frankly, much below the limits of the consoles, is it because its 2XL's first game? I know they're a small company, but it would have been nice to have some sort of wow factor in the graphics, either detailed car models/ or environments would have made the game feel that much better.

Something else that's a bit iffy is that in circuit races, my H20 and tires will wear out within 2/3 laps, but in a rally, i can go flat-out no holding back, win by 20 seconds per stage and not see the damage gauges at all. Just seemed a bit backwards to me. I'm up to the trophy trucks in the career mode, so i'm going fast enough to do some damage, it just doesn't happen?

I'm liking this game a fair bit, but it's the physics alone that are making me come back for more, it's just a shame that they couldn't perhaps maybe spend a bit more time on some of the car models (perhaps only in the high performance range?) or on the environments, then we might have seen a few more positive reviews from the arcade fan boys.

Oh yeah, has anyone managed to flip it yet? i get into some hairy tank-slapping moments which probably should have sent me into a spectacular tumble, but once it gets nearly vertical on two wheels something brings it back down?

I've flipped it quite a few times actually. That's what happens when you forget to lay off the gas LOL. But yeah for the most part it seems to magically upright itself.... just in the nick of time too.

I guess I'm the only one here who's digging the graphics, BTW.

I dig the graphics and the physics, choosing your line is so important in this game its not like the cheesy arcade racers its more of a sim. I would like to see some deep silt sections though.

ok, I know I said I wont be around much but I figured It would be nice to leave a review of this game cause it is great.

First I will start with the lows....

Graphics are not as stunning as other games in the genre. But they are decent.

I haven't made it very far but I am hoping there is all wheel drive vehicles to drive as the rear drive cars are hard to keep strait.

Performance upgrades are not in many stages and seem to be too easy to quire. And its not like you can bolt on turbos and superchargers for extreme power gains. Maybe you can later in the career I dunno..

And for the goods....

Physics are awesome. It is really hard to drive at first but thats only because line choice is so important. If you miss the line you might go flying off the track. Clutch and breaking are also important. I havent been able to tune my car very well yet so I am hoping with time, I can get a better handling car.

I like how you start off with the smaller bugs and work your way up to a trophy truck. I cant wait to get one.

So far I have 2 hours into this game and I can tell I will be playing this one for a while (at least till COD 5 comes).

So, hopefully I see some of you guys online. My tag is TheGrinch5

Its not rear wheel its just how it is. Its the most realistic part of the game because thats how it is when you prerun or race your all over the place. You'll get use to it you have to really work the throttle and clutch

Ok, I felt the need to provide more feedback about this game. I am guessing that Ronron enjoys it and it will also help for Baja 2 if we all keep giving our feedback so here it goes....

I gave a quick review after 2 hours of play and now I have about 8 (I think).

So far, some things have grown on me and some have started to annoy me. Lets start with physics and track design.

Like everyone has said. Physics are awesome and the main reason we are coming back for more. Every bump needs to be approached with the up most of respect from the driver. Clutch and braking are important and I often find myself frying my clutch in search of more power. Sometimes it gets frustrating that evertime you go full throttle, your truck wants to slide. I am sure this can be cured from suspension setup but it is really tricky to get use to.

With that being said, I will say I like about half the tracks. I am willing to bet they are the ones ronron made just because they have a slight "moto" feel to them.

Some tracks are long and boring. Not much to navigate except a few bumps and berms. I don't know much about real off road racing but for gameplay, it is kind of lame. Personally, I like the smaller tracks that have a lot of jumps and bumps. My favorite track is (forgot name) the one that has a lot of puddles to fly through and feels almost like a Untamed mx track. It is really fun. I think if baja 2 (if there will ever be one) focuses more on track design that requires preloading, slight rythems and timing, it will be a homerun.

Ok, so physics and tracks get a B+. Lets move on to the lower graded things....

Trucks and setup....

So far, I am only to the 4th or so style truck in my career. The major thing that is bugging me is I want more horsepower!! It is a good thing that you must start off on weaker trucks to learn how to manage the power for a decent lap time but I can't wait till I get a real monster of a machine. I am guessing the Trophy trucks will make me happy but its going to be a loooong time and I hope I dont get bored before then.

For some reason, trucks are hard to buy, but upgrades are easy to get. I am able to instantly buy every upgrade once I buy a truck. I don't know if this is good or bad. IT also seems that you can only get a little extra performance from upgrades, nothing major. Its not like Grand Turismo where you can go from an average car to a super car just from upgrades. I do like the GT style though. It gets you sucked into a certain car and dumping money into it like its your own hobby. In Baja though, seems like after a few thousand dollars spent, you are done. I would like more upgrades and more expensive!!

So for trucks and setup, I give the game a B.

Now for the sad part... I am afraid that once I am done with career mode, there won't be much replay value in this game. I might be wrong however but I can tell you that besides from career mode, there is nothing fun about this game.

But, I havent been able to play online yet because there is never anyone online! I am guessing that we need more game sales before this happens but if the game is a bust, it will never get going online.

The guy at the video store tried to talk me out of buying this game. He said 90% of the people who buy it don't like it. But the same can be said about the Unleashed/Untamed series and I love it.

So, if online play doesn't pick up soon, this game might start collecting dust.

Ok, hope you didnt hate my long rant/review. I am just trying to help ronron out. I hope to see you guys online cause I am dying to battle it out with a real human being.

Game is definitely worth the purchase however. I have already played it twice as much as I played Dirt. So go get it!

Bye.
