I am in the market to purchase a Xbox 360 in the coming months.
I have a few general questions.
What's the best system for my needs?
* I will be only playing it on a standard definition 68cm TV.
* I will mod it to play backed up games.
I am thinking that the "Pro" or "Premium" should be fine be fine. I have $190 left on a gift card for a local electronics store. Here are the systems that they offer.

The $298 system is the cheapest but I am thinking that maybe the 20GB hard drive would be a bit small. I see they are detachable so maybe an upgrade?
For an extra $100 you can get a package with a 60gb HDD. I just don't know whether it's worth it.
I was considering looking on eBay for a 2nd hand package but I guess I could end up with a broken unit or one that goes RROD on me and I wouldn't have a warranty etc.
Your advice or recommendations are appreciated! :rockon:
Cheers! :thumbsup:

Get the pro (whatever the middle selection is) with 20g and HDMI out.
I download stuff all the time and I rarely fill it up. and when I do, I just delete what I don't use.
The new ones have hdmi but the old ones only have it on the elite. No need to get the elite.
and if you ever upgrade your tv, you have hdmi ready.
This one.... $300...

I would not get the arcade. No HDMI, No hard drive. FAil.
Oh and, do not get a used one! Chances are they RROD on somebody and they got it fixed and sold it for a newer, more reliable version.

You mean the arcade version doesn't have an HDMI plug for the console? I have to tell you I bought the system stock with the plugs it came with (5 HD plugs) and hooked it to my HD tv and man the games look AMAZING still. I just don't quite see the need for an HDMI cable for these things.

Well, it would look even more amazing. :thumbsup:

I am going to get this one Xbox 360 20GB HDD with Wireless Controller (YG1101) - Dick Smith Electronics - Australia. (http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/49216fb40e8d91b8273fc0a87e010708/Product/View/YG1101)
The description says I will get the following;
=> Xbox 360 console,
=> 20GB Hard Drive,
=> Wireless Controller,
=> Faceplate,
=> HD AV Cable and
=> Xbox Live Silver Membership.
The only thing I will look at buying for it will be a cheapish WiFi adapter and possibly another controller so me and the roomies can battle it out on games like Fight Night Round 3 etc :rockon:
With my gift card it should only cost $108. :clap::clap::clap:

Yeah can't wait. Should be able to get it in the next 3 weeks. :rockon:
Just realised my computer speaks are stuffed. :upset:
Moved them out onto the music computer on the weekend and now the speakers won't work. You can hear the sub working but not the speakers themselves! :thumbsdown:
I have the working speakers from my old Logitech Z-5500D system that appear to have the same connection as these ones that have just broken. Would 2 of the 5.1 speakers connect up to my still working 2.1 sub and control dock thing?

Yeah sorry I didn't explain it real well.
We had a party on the weekend and I moved my speakers out to the lounge room to listen to music on our old computer. Must have played them too loud or something and now the speakers won't play sound.
Wondering if a pair of speakers from a 5.1 system will plug and play into a 2.1 sub/system. The plugs appear the same and they are both Logitech but just wondering if anyone had done it before.
