Yesterday i took a little dirt nap and ended up tearing my meniscus among other things. I'll be out of commision for a while so I need to be an Xbox 360 to kep myself entertained while I'm laid up out of work.
I'm a total video game newb so excuse my dumb questions.
-Xbox 360>PS3?
-Would the $199 arcade version be enough for alot of MX untamed, a bit of Tom Clancy and a spritz of GTA4?
-Is Wal-mart the place to buy?
-Would the value packs they have (Arcade console, 2 controllers and 2 games of your choice for $269) be worth it?
Thanks in advance.
Edit: Thought this was the video game forum. Sorry.

Thats fine but you may want to check out costco or sams they have better bundles sometimes. I would get Cod4 too.

I checked costco and they only have the highest end Xbox and it's around $500 for the whole bundle. I'm not gonna use it much after I'm healed so i was thinking the arcade would be fine

read the other thread "what xbox to buy". I posted some tips.
as far as xox360 vs. ps3..... everyone will tell you different but the fact that ps3 is also a blue ray player makes it the best buy.
But, if the ps3 wasn't a blue ray and you were looking at just the gameplay, I would say get a xbox. I have played both and I can't stand the ps3. And this is coming from somebody who owned and loved his ps1, ps2, and a psp.
xbox360>ps3 for gameplay.
and yea, get COD4 and if you like driving, get forza motorsport 2.
BTW, sorry to hear about tearing you knee. I did the exact same thing but I havent had surgery yet. Its been a year and a half. Doctors misdiagnosed me so I didn't even know until recently. It hurts but it gets better over time.

know how that goes... story of my life since June 22nd of this year.
I personally have PS3, but I don't even use Blu Ray dvd's, so I would have gotten a 360 had my mom not been so gun-ho for blu-ray. I don't think the arcade version has any sort of memory, so you'd have to get a hard drive if you want to save your files and such. I don't know much about the 360, so maybe you can get memory cards or something.
and x2 for the COD4
feel better bro

I got ACL reconstruction on July 3rd of this year... then 2 months later I got over-confident with my progress and messed it up again playing basketball. The 2nd report says that my "acl graft appears to be intact," but my doctor felt too much movement/instability in my knee. I'm getting surgery after finals are done this semester.

Hopefully it's nothing major. The 2nd time around, my doctor waited like a month to decide if he wanted to do surgery or not. This whole college thing sucks because I would have gotten it done right away if I wasn't going to be missing classes and such. Fill us bros in at RonRon tomorrow when you hit up the doctor

In the long run, the PS3 is a much better investment. If it's just for gaming in the short run, get the cheapest 360 that comes with a harddrive. The arcade one is useless, because you cannot save a profile without memory, meaning that you're unable to save games or play online. I don't even know why they still sell that model.

Well I'm sold on the Pro (60GB). Going to buy it, an extra controller, MX vs. Untamed, Halo 3, Shaun White Pro SNowboarding and a battery charger tommorow.
Next question is, what do I need to play online? We have a wireless router down the hall about 30 feet in the office. What else is needed? Thanks.

Ether run an ethernet cable down the hall to the xbox or get a wireless thingy for the xbox ($100+:eek6:). I would run a cable if possible.
Other than that, you just need to create an xbox live account. This also cost money. I forget the exact price but its like $10 or something.
