like demon said, MxEthix went there a couple years ago. He said it was the easiest thing he'd ever done but he hated phoenix like you couldnt imagine. I guess it just wasnt a good neighborhood and he didnt like the people either.

In my opinion you would be much better off monetarily and knowledge wise to start working at a shop. Everyone I have talked to about MMI has said it was very basic stuff and not much applied to actually working on bikes. I never went to MMI or anything like it and if I may say, I am a very good mechanic with much more knowledge than I could have learned at MMI from working with other mechanics and learning from them. We have two MMI graduates at our dealership, they work in the parts department because so little of what was taught carried over. If you are wanting to work your way into the MX industry as a wrench it's a good program for that because they have connections with Wonder Warthog.

I live out in PHX. I dated a guy who went to MMI, have plenty of friends who attend MMI, and I lived in the apartments across from the school. Personally, I think think the school is a joke, but I had some friends who learned a lot from attending. As for the area, it's not as bad as they are making it out to be. It's better than the ghetto is south phx, but it's not the ritzy area like Scottsdale either. Plenty of riding in the state, right by 2 freeways, and plenty of malls in the area. I wouldn't say bring a gun, I would say be sure to be well stocked on condoms and be prepared for a ton of drama. The girls out here are scandelous, but there are some good girls too, just gotta find 'em. If you need a tour guide, or a riding pal, give me a shout. I'll get you in with some cool people.
