Bit earlier than anticipated but not going out this weekend, just having a quiet one so I ended up deciding to buy it.

Went in and at first she thought I just wanted to buy a 20gb hard drive. I said it's a bundle with the 20gb drive and pointed at the other bundle they have with 3 games in it and the 60gb drive. She thinks for a second and says we don't sell a bundle like you say.

I thought "here we go!"b:nuts: I know they sell it because I had double-checked on their website before going down and it WAS available at this store location.

I said to her that it's advertised on their website that I can get the console, controller, 20gb hdd in a bundle for $298. She replies with, "Oh yes, we do have that bundle, but it doesn't have the games like the other bundle. I said yeah I know that, it's fine. They had $10-$20 games bin with Forza2 and Virtua Tennis 3 I was going to pick up for $20 each.

So she goes out back to get it. She was gone for what seemed like 10 minutes and returns with a box. She said I am sorry it appears we don't actually have that exact bundle left in this store as advertised. We have this other one that is the same except it includes the headset and Live thing that the other one doesn't. PLUS it has Forza2 and Viva Pinata included.

What's the difference in price I asked. She said it's only $24 dearer than the one I wanted but she sold it to me for the price of the bundle without the games.

So I got a different bundle than expected but with Forza2 included. I don't think I will play that Viva Pinata game. Probably try and get rid of it on eBay. I ended up buying Virtua Tennis 3 as well.

The only thing I am worried about is this friggin RROD. Just looked at my console and it was manufactured on the 27th of Nov 2007. It's the old chip so should I just expect to send it away some time soon?

I bought mine at PC World over here. When it goes wrong I simply take it back and they just give me a new one right there on the spot. Iv'e done that 4 times already. Don't have to send anything off at all.

The 360 isn't a well built console but the new one's are much much better and I haven't had any problems at all with my most recent one. It's been superb for months. The only problems iv'e ever had with all my 360's (bar this last one) are disc drive faults. Never had RROD.

I wouldn't worry about it, not everyone gets RROD, you might not have any problems at all. However don't be too surprised if it does go wrong. It's sort of part of the Xbox 360 experience lol.

That aside, it's an awesome console and your going to love it!

If your new to gaming in general, then I would highly recommend the mind blowingly brilliant Fallout 3. Iv'e been playing this over the last week and it's just incredable. Dead Space is a sound purchase too.

I would say with the older ones you have a 50% chance of RROD.

The new ones its more like 5%.

So.... good luck. Sounds like you got a good deal though.

Keep the thing upright and well ventilated.

Keep the thing upright and well ventilated.

Glad you bought that up.

I have been sitting mine flat. Only because it doesn't seem right to place a disc into the drive vertically. :eww: There's no way the disc can sit perfectly centre while the Xbox is standing up and I thought with it being off-centre it might affect the laser or something?? :-/

The DVD drive in mine appears to be a Phillips/BenQ product. Hopefully it goes ok. Also, I noticed the whole drive seems very flimsy when it comes out. Are they all like that?

One cool thing that I didn't really think about before buying is the fact that I can just drag a movie onto a 4gb thumbstick drive and watch it. No need to burn DVD's. Just have to make sure they aren't in AVI format.

Well I am off to play Forza 2. I am making myself play with manual transmission setting as I did this with Sega GT on my original Xbox and was glad I did.

Forza is so much more realistic. My little Supra spins out and loses control very easily. I have turned on TCS, ABS and stability control for the time being! :rotfl:

I put mine upright. Microsoft recommends it that way. The disks do sit funny but it never seems to be a problem. Only time it messes up is when I accidentally push it closed when I still trying to put a disk in. :uhoh:

Yea, there are some cool things you can do with the 360. I got mine hooked up to the computer so I can have access to all my mp3's and play them on the system while playing games. Same with movies. You can watch movies using your computers hard drive.

Another cool and new feature is installing games onto your 360 so you don't need the disk. This makes me want to buy a bigger hard drive.

also, if you have netflix, you can watch movies on your 360. Really cool.

360>ps3!

I leave mine on all day sometimes and no problemo yet.

Go get Call of Duty 4 or World at War. You will enjoy. Also, when you get Live, give me your tag. We can play forza 2.

I am going to get World at War

Played and loved COD 4 on my PC so just going to get WOW for the 360.

Rented MX vs ATV Untamed and so far love it! I was expecting to be a little disappointed after reading a few reviews. I was still playing Unleashed on PC with downloaded tracks. Untamed is really sweet. Still getting used to the sensitivity of the control stick vs keyboard :rotfl:

The only thing I really hate with Untamed is when another rider runs into you and the bike gets knocked sideways and back around the wrong way! Not realistic and is very annoying the way it behaves.

Also, rented out Battlefield 2. Haven't played it much as it's for a week and Untamed is only out for 2 nights.

I think I might have to invest in a wireless adapter for the 360.

I am pretty sure you still need the disc in the drive to prove that you own it.

Untamed is good. Only thing that annoys me is the damn hay bails when playing online. Most people hit them and knock them onto the track and I always hit them. Drives me nuts. I also wish they would make updates to the game and release more tracks.

Most game developers dont give a **** about improving their game once it releases. Infanity Ward (COD4) always has updates and new maps once in a while. Same with Halo3. The rest can suck it.

COD WaW has a ton of problems and I don't think Treyard (or whatever they are called) is going to do **** about it. :upset:

Cant wait till COD 6 and have IW back.

Why should they? They are making a killing just by having the name Call of duty. They could make a turd of a game and as long as they had the trademark they would be at the top of the XBOX live lists. But yes COD 6 will be far superior simply because IW puts a ton of effort into it. Although from what I have heard about 6, a lot of people may be let down.

COD 6 can no way let me down (sci fi or not). IW just makes an amazing game non matter what guns are used.

If your worried about the RROD you might want to invest in one of these無標題文件 (http://www.lian-li.com.tw/v2/en/product/product06.php?pr_index=261&cl_index=1&sc_index=35&ss_index=87&g=spec)
I do not have one nor do i know anybody that does so i cannot tell you if it really works or not but by the looks of it i dont see why it wouldnt work keeping the whole unit cool and air moving around it. Just my 2 cents Enjoy your 360

I have had my 360 over a year now (i bought an arcade last september i think) and have had no iddues with it. I had it laying flat when it was hooked to my upstairs tv when I broke my leg and never had any issues then either.

you're lucky. If it's a first gen of the system though, i'm pretty sure they have a 100% fatality rate. It was a defect in the design they all had. Good thing the Microsoft warranty is good for 5 years.
