I am again... third time's the charm right? Let's see, two years ago I had a horrible day and couldn't stop crashing, and Ashley Fiolek was at the race. Last year I broke my wrist two weeks before the regional and was out for just short of six months, and Sarah Whitmore was at my area qualifier. I swear this year Tarah Geiger is going to show up. I better stay healthy.

I might...is there a collegeboy class? How stacked is it compared to C?
Triple Five

I don't know if Collegeboy is still around but that class is stacked as funk. Its baisically pro riders that don't want to move up a class.
I qualified a couple years ago in 125b mod and had to race Josh Hill. It was the year RV and J-law were battling pro and Hill had faster lap times than anyone. I knew I was in over my head when we were in a b/a combined practice and the track was rough and rutted as hell. First lap I'm just cruising around learning the track and Lawrence flys by me and throws the biggest whip right infront of me. Funk that was intimidating.

i raced a lorreta lynn qualifier april 6th at competitive edge and was running a solid 7th in schoolboy, actually battled with frank letteri little bit before i started to make mistakes.. there was a reallly sketchy triple and i did this on it ...
http://a146.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/7/l_c4d6689a0ffe44e261d1ba532d3355f1.jpg
so i started doubling it just to be safe, what a mistake that was  . the next lap i doubled it and cased it, soo the next lap i knew i needed to hit it a tad bit harder to jump it, i know what your thinking already.. yeah, the next lap i over jumped the double and landed right into the face of the triple..
the triple wasnt big but due to the loong run at it made it sooo sketchy..

i didnt crash, i rode it out and went back to the truck.
lower tibia in 6 places on my right leg
lower tibia in 8 places on my left leg and a dislocated ankle, and i think a broken fibula.
the result? 3 surgery's and i cant walk for another 2 months

there is team xtreme green kawasaki with sjoberg, wilson, baggett, and larsen..
then there is team green rides that your city dealership or whatever gives out to a certain amount of riders around that area.

I pretty much quit riding the last couple years. I think I'm starting to get the itch again. Maybe I go and play spectator at lorettas this year, and try to qualify next year. We'll see. I gotta get that $ thing going first.:puppydog:

Agreed, same with ILL tracks. But Red Bud takes the cake, that track kills you at the end of the day. Especially at the bottom of the Monva Wall and the corner leading into the Leap. And well pretty much every other part of the track...
I guess that's what we get for having good soil.

I have never been a huge fan of all the Loretta stuff because a lot of times it is just a ton of kids with rich parents. But they are still very fun to watch and film and thats why I plan to be at Honey Lake with a camera and lots of tape

I would love to try and qualify for LL's but I'm not made of money. I'm lucky to have enough to do the local KY series...
I will do it someday, though. I've decided I'll wait until I'm out of college and have some extra dough laying around (if I ever do).

Are there like big entry fee's or something? 'Cause i would have thought even traveling miles and miles would only cost a couple hundy, which aint too much...I guess you might be on the other side of the country or something, then i see what you mean. Are there qualifiers all over the place?
istupid98
05-18-2008, 10:45 PM
yeah there is qualifiers all over the country there is about 8 qualifiers fin each regon and there 8 of them but only one regonal for each but the regonals are split in to ametuer and youth then one national

I tried to qualify a couple years back, but didn't have any luck. I'm probably gonna try again when I can start racing the +25, +30 classes  (I'm not exactly sure what the age classes are). I don't really care how I do, I just want to go once for the experience

I went 2 years ago. Unless you've been to Tennessee in August before, the climate shock will kill you. I know after a moto I couldn't even take my pants off.
But the event is very well run at the national level. It's hard to judge the area/regional considering those are run by different promoters.

I qualified in the North Central and South Central Regions so we'll see how the regionals go.

Yeah, you have to be rich and can take weeks off work at a time. I don't see how the parents do it. my uncle spent $14,000 last year going to lorettas, with my cousin racing two classes. Not to mention the time off work he spent chasing the damn qualifiers and then LL. and they arn't doing it big compared to most of the people there.

Multiple mortgages and big time into debt. Unless of course you have rich parents or hue contract with one of the OEM's.

:eek6:Is that $14, 000 spent on just gas and spare parts accom etc or Are there huge entry fees or something?A bunch of it is gas. You do spend a good amount of money on racing fees though, especially if you try in more than one regional. You have to pay for each class at the areas and regionals, you have to pay Mx Sports some sort of fee, transponders.. etc. It all adds up. Then after you've qualified for the national, you still have to pay $75 per class and $250 to park for the week. If you don't have a fancy motorhome, you're paying to stay at a hotel for your qualifiers and for the national. Thankfully when I went, I raced 1 class, we just went to 1 area, 1 regional, and then the national. We also drove in my dad's pickup truck, so we spent a whole heck of a lot less on gas than those motorhome drivers. I think my dad told someone he spent around $4-5K for the whole process.

Thats with the driving to the quali's entrys at all the events. hotels on the way to tennesse, I think it took them 3 days each way 2,000- 2,500 miles. they had a half ton chevy pulling a 14ft trailer. no motorhome but they stayed at the track.

Yeah we just toss it all in the van, and all of my qualifiers are only two hours away at tracks that I race at normally. We just rough it and sleep in a tent and bring food from home. The area qual cost us $200 ($90 just in gas to fill the tank). We're not rich but we're not poor. I just want to go to race against people I look up too. If I make it, I'm racing against Tarah Geiger, Sarah Whitmore, Ashley Fiolek. I don't even care how I do at LL I just want to make it to say that I raced Lorettas and didn't give up.
