I can't remember what got me onto this, but im pretty intrigued. I'd pretty much just want to try it for the experience, but im totally confused on what to get, and if i really need to get the spoons/glasses with them.

Would the kubler gift box be okay? I'm not giving it to anyone, so do i really need to pay extra for a bloody box? or would the abisinthe 45% gift box be suitable for a first experience?

Or, i was just looking at the Duplais Verte 500ml, and then putting together my own spoon somehow, but i'd rather use the proper stuff for a cool experience.


Im not really expecting anything crazy psychedelic, but the sh*t seems pretty expensive, and i dont really want to be disapointed if i go to the trouble of ordering it.

Whats your experience with this stuff?

I got intrigued with this stuff to just before my 18th birthday.

I looked it up and researched it a bit and found the local Dan Murphy's has the proper stuff with the hallucinagant, thujone, in it. The stuff I got was called Green Fairy. Here it is.

I paid $65 for it I am pretty sure and it apparently included one of those queer looking spoons for the sugar but it had been ripped off the package. :upset:

Took it back and tried it. Sh!t is strong! :cheers: Best way I can describe it is very strong and burning mouthwash/Listerine! Never tried it with sugar like they say but mixed with water and Lemonade etc but was always so strong!! :eek6:

Didn't experience any hallucinating but did get REALLY hammered at my 18th when I hid it in a tractor behind the party and would go out with a couple friends to have some shots every so often. It did its job as far as alcohol goes. It wasn't overly good as I've never bought another bottle since or tried it since.

It was just one of those drinks that was hyped up and I wanted to try!

Scary is my experience....but i wasn't told of the haloucenigenic property!!

I had really sharp vision in the centre of my eyes, everthing was in slowmo and the periphial was a twisted vortex style blur in really bright 80's day glo colours....was cool!!! Oh and my depth perception was totally shot!!!!!! Worth noting if you go near steps, Trust Me!!!

My buddy had some shipped over from somewhere. Like $160 bottle. I went over to his place to try it, even used the spoon and sugar and all that, didn't do much but get me drunk. Way too much money to get drunk off a ****ty tasting liquor. :pukeface:

I think the stuff i had was the illegal stuff laced with the active ingredient from LSD.....i had drank half a bottle of it straight, damn card games! Wasn't until the next day that i was told about the LSD part! :( Was not a happy bunny!

I'm pretty sure it is illegal in America, or it was for a while( different from prohbition). They called it the green devil or something like that.

It was illegal all together and now it is not. However, the wormwood they use is not the real deal. I do think the original absinthe is still illegal here, and the variety that you are able to purchase in the states isnt nearly as strong.

Ya the absinthe you find in the states isn't the same as the kind that will make you hallucinate. Does't seem to do it for everyone though... I never tried it. I have a low tolerance for alcohol so I avoid too much liquor. I am just about 20 minutes outside of amsterdam though... maybe I'll try some tomorrow if I'm not doing anything else

You can't, not the real stuff anyways. The absinthe you find in the states is just liquid liquorish tasting crap.
Just got back from Amsterdam and am now back at my sister's house and totally forgot about tryin absinthe until I logged on here and looked at this... dang... oh well it's all good. I went to a show at Boom Chicago, had a few drinks here and there and ate a Domerkabab... good stuff. Ofcourse I smell like beer, cigs, and garlic now, so I'm about to call it a night.

You can buy the proper stuff from over here from shops and also eBay.

When I say proper I mean it contains thujone the "hallucinagant" from acid. But it's limited to a certain number of mg compared to the wild stuff from Czech and other hardcore Euro countries.

Um, you're talkin about the US... may not be hard to send it over but if you get caught they might send you to the pin for 15 years, or cut your fingers off, or bomb the country it came from. They tried to deport me after I got caught with a joint, so to say that they overreact a little would be an understatement.

The whole green fairy thing is a myth. The wormwood is a hallucinogen, however, not even the European stuff has enough to make you hallucinate. The alcohol simply overpowers the hallucinogen of the wormwood. I drank a half bottle, in a night and I all I got was a really bad hang over. Mix it with sprite though and its pretty good.

See i think its odd that people have different experiences with it, thats why im not to comfortable with forking over 140+ bucks for a bottle that may just be a flop. I want what o'brian had :-D but i guess the lsd would have had a part in it.

Tobz, just get the stuff in my first post or something alike. Unless you get the real deal then there's no point paying more than you should. The US can't get the stuff that's in our bottle-o's so just go get the stuff with thujone if you want the chance to get reeeall loose.

But like we reckon the stuff with the illegal drug is tame compared to the whole bottle's net weight. It's overated as you will see. Just get it, show it off and get hammered my mototalking friend. :rockon:

The stuff i had was smuggled into the country from some Barely civilised place.....and i am a lightweight!!! I am susceptible to feel effects from very little of anything! I don't smoke weed but i can get high from being in the same area as someone who is.....i don't even have to be near them! :-S So a little bit of Thujone will effect me in a big way!
