What's the best one out there, seems like there's a ****load of companies making them now.

Anyone done the research wanna fill me in.. Money's not a big factor, but a few of the local bike shops stock them I kinda want one now, so if you could list a few decent brands I'd rather grab one local than wait to ship.

I don't have a camcorder, or recording device as of yet seems like that's needed too?

Depends on what you mean by best. The GoPro with a wide angle lens seems to be the preferred one amongst most people, it doesnt require an additional camera. But, if your looking for superb video quality it isnt a home-run.

These seem to have the best quality for a helmet/goggle cam but are crazy expensive. Check out the Grant footage.

An old Canon Z-series with some suction-cup action worked the best for me.

I love my GoPro. Like mentioned above, it isn't the best HD quality picture, but it is self-contained (no extra recording device,) immediately recognizeable by WIndows (no extra software,) and the unit itself is small and basically indestructible. Oh, and they retail for $199. It's like a sore peepee - you can't beat it.
