Looks good although the rider seems a touch too rigid. From the films Iv'e seen, there also appears to be slightly stronger gravity this time around (which I would welcome) although that could be an illusion.
As weve all said 5 million times before though, I just wish they could get away from all that other nonsense.
Ofcourse the IGN people (who have probably never ridden in their lives) look towards the bonus features, such as the extra vehicles and are ofcourse, obsessed with the freestyle details. Where's from my point of view, FMX is something I'll barely look at over the course of the entire game.

Yeah, I've played Unleashed and Untamed... and I don't think that I've ever been on a freestyle course... it is just plain boring for a video game. There's no fun in just pressing buttons and watching the rider do some tricks... the real skill kicks in when the gate drops :)

this game is starting to look WAY sick. The SX tracks look a little out there, but that national track looks a lot more like a real national track then one cluttered with a million jumps. The only thing I wish they would show us is a gate with more then 12 riders. Surely if they are supporting 12 riders online, the should be able to support more in game right?

"Sandwick" actually looks pretty close to southwick. I wonder if the rest of the tracks will be loosely based of the real nattys too.

In that first link Brad posted you can click "Razorback" national. It doesn't look like any nationals I've seen but it looks more like a real track compared to past games. The mud is kinda cool.

There are a ton of pro riders that are going to be in this game, you can also make your own replica rider. Some of the riders that I know about: RC4, JS7, RV2, McGrath, the Wharton bros, Han bros, Barcia, Canard, Josh Grant, Allessi bros, along with many more riders... I haven't seen anything on whether or not K-Dub or Reed will be in the game.

ya i mean like way less about smoothness of transition and natural look of the riders and more focused on what happens in the 'big' moments. Reminds me more of Untamed than MX Vs AtV in that way also. Hopefully it doesnt turn out to be an issue. I think this guy simply isn't using much of the rider stick, so the rider looks way stiff. With people who get how to use weight distribution adn **** for traction, I think it'll look and feel much better. Here's hoping, i said the same thing for Untamed, and I was way wrong, lol.

IMO the rider reflex and terrain deformation will put it a good distance ahead of untamed (I hope anyway!) but I know what you mean.
I was so disappointed with untamed. They talked it up so much (I realise this is marketing and there job) but alot was said but not implemented into the game and it was only a very slight improvement on unleashed.
I am excited about this new game but also very wary of a big disappointment!

I can tell just by looking at the footage that this game will feel nearly identical to the last one, which was a ****pile. I'll give the demo a shot, but my expectations are really low this time.
I wish EA would take an interest in motocross again. The stuff they're doing with the NHL and Skate series is incredible. Those two have revolutionized their genres.

Show me another hockey game where the stick is independently controlled with its own dedicated joystick. I think it's pretty innovative and it's the same kind of thinking behind Skate. It looks like Rainbow is trying to apply the same thing to Reflex, but I don't think it can work unless the overall feel of riding a motocross bike is perfected first.
They'd be better off if they ported the MX Unleashed physics model to the new game, tweaked it a bit, and then applied the reflex system to it. Their current physics model is garbage.

I see where you're coming from.
The rider still seems very stiff and robotic. The bike seems to skate or "flow" over some terrain and it doesn't look right either. But I guess it's a base to build. You would specialising in MX game Rainbow would have it down better tho!

2k has been doing that in their hockey game since like 2k 6-7... But if you play the game, you eventually get the hang of it, and really does work great. not perfect, but WAY better than untamed, which was unplayable to me.

Cheers Dan, total makes it $75 including shipping, which makes it $8 more than the retail price of buying the game here when it's released in Feb... That's if import tax isn't included on top.
Very tempting... Although it's kinda risky as i'm not 100% sure if the PS3 is region free in terms of video games. I know my PS3 won't play NTSC DVD's so i'm a bit skeptical.

you have to hit the ruts dead on (so slow down) and use the lean to lean into the ruts. (so push the stick in the direction you're turning). It's kind of tough to get used to, buta wesome once you get the hang of it and see yourself hugging rutted inside lines.

I still have a habit of trying to lean back when I am in a straight line. The reflex is just too sensitive with this and the rough track!

I hear ya motocrossguy. I've been playing the demo more than the new Call of Duty. Also, in the freestyle area you dink around in while the track is loading, there is a few sweet supercross sections. Theres one with a step-on triple off (or you can triple double) then you make a left hande bowl turn into a steep double - and after you land that double turn slightly to your left and head to the next supercross section and you hit a double and then go into a left hand bowl turn and then a steep triple. After the triple turn slightly to your right and go back into the other sx section again. I kept doing that little routine over and over again and it's so fun. The berms get DEEP ruts in them, and eventually you can hall grundle through them. Also, I kept scrubbing the faces of the triple and double and they got sweet carved ruts in the faces. It's really fun - I can't wait to try out the real sx tracks.

Is that triple after the triple step down? If you aim on the very left you can do it on a 250f...i can do it nearly every lap on the 450 the bottom of the "valley" gets rough though so it is harder to do it on a 250f on the third lap!!! Try the Very far left line, it is easy to do on a 450 and should shave precious seconds :D

After the steep double you talk about, I steer to the right, get on the side of the big mound in the center and head right again into the whoops. Then you can hit a sand berm going into a double double section, then right into a set of rollers, another berm, and 2 small tabletops that you can scrub. Then to the right again on the side of the big central mound and on the double again.

Try going up the uphill triple to the far right where the take off is lower. You'll barely make the double even though you have the same speed. Then double out. I find it sets you up better for the next corner.

One thing I forgot:
In the double-double section after the sand whoops, anyone going triple-single? I've done it a few times on the 450 (not even close on the 250) but can't hit it consistently. I'm kind of stuck with my lap times and looking for new lines...

Does anyone else struggle with whips?
I can do the ronnie renner thing where the bike twists sideways, almost like a scrub. But if try and lean the bike over in sort of regular "Carmichael type" whip I just end up straight over the bars panic reving.
How you guys are doing mid to low 50s I have no idea. My best is a 1:02! This is going to be a good game, I can't go back to Untamed now. The terrain deformation thing is everything I hoped it would be.

i was under the impression the difference between NTSC and PAL is the amount of lines used in the screen and so wouldn't work correctly. So with new HD TV's and Blu Ray that is more or less redundant? Especially seeing as it is an Analogue televison coding. WIth digital it no longer really counts......

It's really fun - I can't wait to try out the real sx tracks.
when your in the loading sreen try this. hit the step on step off and then when you take the turn and hit the next section try to jump across and land smoothly on the take off for the step on step off section. hard as crap. best ive done is land in face of it

Keep trying. (Assuming your all over the place) I had the same trouble but after a couple of hours it really starts to gel. You need to be very suttle with the two lean options. Sometimes you'll just need to lean the bike, sometimes just the rider. It's usually both but mostly only with small quick suttle adjustments. If you get sideways then use the throttle to straighten out. This is a huge help with whips. Then after that it's just about knowing where the AI has torn things up and picking good lines.

I really like the tracks that I have played so far. The SX tracks are pretty tough to get and keep a good rhythm. It's too easy to get enough money to fully upgrade your bikes though. I figured it would be more of a challenge, but after winning a couple of races I had my bike tricked out and new gear.

OK guys I've been out of the loop for a bit and didn't even know there was a demo out yet but I had preordered the game and I got it today. After playing it for over 2 hours I must say I absoulty hate the thing. To me it terrible. There is no rythem like in there other games. Ever who said its like MTX Mototrax hit the nail on the head. To me it seems the bike is so much stiffer and it just seems to bounce through certain sections. Also if you happen to get out of rythem or crash you can start out in the section and get your rythem back like you can in the other games and real life. I really gave it a chance and I hate it. That said I like Untamed pretty well but Unleashed is by far my favorite. I was shocked that Rainbow got this far away from their formula. That said I love the track deformation I just wished they had an option to play without the reflex like the old style. I really thought they would of offered a standard play along with the relex style. The bike just doesn't seem to float with the terrian it seems to be on top of it and bouncy/ Anyway I'm glad some of you like it. Hopefully it will grow on me. Just wanted to give my 2 cents.

Wow. I'm shocked by that! This is the best MX game EVER! Nothing has even come close to reacting with the terrain like Reflex has. You have to really work at going fast on this. It's not just a 'pin it and go' deal like in past games. If you hit a rut wrong it can slow you down or even kick you off the bike....kind of like in real life. The old games were a joke!

I agree about the terrian changing but it just feels like there's no rythem to the jumps at all. It feels to me more like pin it and go fast to clear them or if you come up short you just bounce over them. Maybe I just need to play it awhile longer but after 2 hours plus of game play I was so frustrated I wanted to bust the controller. I'm going to give it a little more time and maybe I'll get use to it. So far MX Unleashed felt so much more realistic to me over all. Like I said maybe I need to give it a bit more time.

I picked up my copy today. So far I like it a ton but I do have a few gripes. First is the complete lack of acceleration. There are a ton of pretty badass inside lines but once you hit those, your chance of clearing anything out of the corner is pretty slim. That pretty much forces you to take outside lines everywhere to make any sort of time.
Second is that I kind of miss the preload stick action. On previous titles, the preload would almost work as acceleration out of corner so you could clear stuff using inside lines. This simply holding back on the stick just doesnt give you the same feeling.
Other than that, im really digging the game. It definitely has a feel that no other mx game even come close too. Thats my 2 cents. I give it a solid 8.5/10

You hit the nail on the head bro. Thats the problem I have with it. It has no acceleration at all. I've notice several people saying that its not just pin and go fast but especially on the SX tracks if you don't just pin it and go you can't clear ****. Before with the preload if you messed up on a section you could use your preload to get back in the groove. SX was my favorite part and now it sucks with the new Physics. It nuts.
I haven't even checked to see how many tracks there was but if they only put 6 mx and 6 sx thats stupid. Why so few? Sounds like now we'll finally get downloadable tracks which is cool but they should at least put the same amount of tracks as they normally would not fewer and make us pay extra for them.

If you like the other rainbow mx games at all then I would say no because the learning curve is high. I've played about 6 hours and I still freakin hate it. Some of the guys on here were saying its not just pin it but to me thats all it is. You sure can start out out of a turn or is you mess up and get in a good line you just bounce all over the place. I just got through playing several sx tracks and I wasn't sure if I was suppose to be on a dirt bike or a damn pogo stick. The only track I've even enjoyed at all is sandwick. The games was made to work good with the track deformation but it makes the technical tracks suck bad and those were the ones I loved. Of course now we are finally going to get downloable tracks and I hate the freakin game. If its not just pin it and go fast then I wish someone could tell me how to make the jumps on a sx track with out having you speed up? Thats not realistic at all. The SX Pros can start in the middle of a section and get back into a rythm. Heck you can case the biggest triple and just bounce right off of it. Most of the time the stupid green arrow doesn't even come up. I hate to keep complaining but it just frustrates me at how bad I hate it. I was hoping I'd get the feel of it. I guess I'll be going back to MX Unleashed on PC. I wish someone that really understood MX / SX would make a really good MX only game with real life tracks. It always kills me to here the developers say that real life tracks isn't what people like to play on a game. Anyone that has been apart of the MCM or MXU community on line knows that real tracks get 10 to 1 downloads over fake ones. Give the people what they like!!!

I totally disagree. If you use the brake coming into the corner and use both sticks to corner you can really rail. I find that if I hit a corner like I would in real life that usually it reacts just like in real life. Although i do agree most of the time if you mess up in a rhythm section you are thrown off for the whole section but overall I think it is a good game

in this game to go fast you have to really keep your rhythm. i can tell that when you get your speed up and hit the jumps you go more out than up. when you hit them slow its like your on a pogo stick. i know its frustrating when you get slightly outta whack and start bouncing everywhere in the sx but thats just part of it. once you get the the tracks down and learn the lines its really smooth and flows well. i think this game is about as realistic as its gonna get. i see this game getting polished out and the little bugs they have with the reflex system and the terrain deformation being tuned up for the next one. but i think this game is so much better than the last one and well worth the buy

Do you mean change the laps while the race is in progress? If so, no. At least I haven't seen anything like that..never thought about doing that. There's not a 'practice' format, which I thought was kind of weird.. you just run a race and put the number of opponents at zero. I was wanting to free ride at a track earlier, but none of the tracks were in the Free Ride option.. maybe it will be available after I beat the game? I haven't done all the MotoCareer stuff so I'm hoping I'm not entirely sure what all this game allows.

You gotta marry her on the spot after that one!!!!!!!!
Why? Then she will stop giving blowjobs! I'll take blowjobs over an XBox any day! I won't get in trouble if I go out on my own and buy an XBox.

If you go play in arcade mode, once you select the track you hit X, It's lets you chose Number of opponets and laps.
Yeah I knew that; I thought he was talking about after the race had started.

Do you guys know if you can unlock the other riders in the game?
Btw, you can do front flips like those (Page?) brothers do them.

No and no. I've beaten the game and you only have a choice of Stewart, McGrath, Villopoto, Grant, and Carmichael. Kinda dumb if you ask me.
And I've been trying front flips a lot. You just push forward and h it the brake, and It's really easy to get upside down, but then the rider just stops spinning. I guess if the jump was HUGE, you might could pull it off. Otherwise, it ain't gonna happen.

Man I thought the vital message board was bad, but sheesh spend 1 minute over a the mxvsatv forum and it makes vital look like a court room discussion.

no, i do it all the time. It's actually pretty easy, you just have to get a little sideways. but sucks about the riders, why the **** bothering to make them? plus all those custom bike graphics we don't get to use? wtf?

Oh yeah, i didn't think about getting a little sideways. I actually started trying it a little more after I read your post and was getting closer but never landed one. And yeah, I'm hoping there's going to be DLC for everything, not just tracks.

I hear they're definitely going to happen, just not for at least a few months. But I heard that from somebody that heard that from somebody that probably heard that from somebody lol.

Ok, is there any way to change the clutch for a 2nd player? Me and my brother were playing and couldn't figure out a way to change the button map for Player 2 controls, and it's very annoying...

I have a question concerning the game. Is there still the preload function as found in Unleashed and Untamed? Im curious as to how the "rider reflex" function changes the aspect of old school video game preloading. My copy of Reflex is currently in the mail, the anticipation is killing me!
Theres really no preload so to speak in this game, its kinda more just lean back off the lip to jump further.

No preload. This game is much more realistic. There is no more just pinning it, hit preload, and jump an entire section. It's all about timing and hitting everything just right.

ya, the preload in this works much more like seat bouncing.

HOW THE HELL DO YOU GUYS RIDE SMOOTH? --jesus, i try to hard to keep her smooth, and it seems every tiny jump i take my rider styles it out and throws a tiny whip.. this is cool for the most part, but sometimes it'll spell certain death. also, whats your whip technique? i'd say i get a good whip 1 time out of every 15 i try. a lot of times i end up upside down and spinning like a helicopter praying to get wheel side down again. doubleyou tee eff. otherwise, great game.. i guess i just really suck at it! haha

It takes some time playing the game to get smooth. Try do the nationals at the beginning. To whip just use the reflex and roll the stick in an upwards motion in the direction you want to whip and use the left stick and push it to the same direction. Let go of both sticks and give the throttle some blips and it should come around.

Only use the Reflex stick on jump faces and tight corners is what I've found.

Ive found if I tap the rider stick it helps instead of just holding it. I lean back a lot with the rider also
