I took a peek at my xray on my wrist.. you can see where there STILL is a clean cut directly through the middle of my scaphoid bone in my wrist.. call me stupid or whatever but i thought it might have healed wrong. turns out its been continueing to re-break every time i "jammed" it.. everybody told me to get over it and "its not broken so shut up"
well, it is broken. im getting surgery on it, ill be out for 3 months or so.. same injury bubba has. exept with mine i continued to ride/race on it for a year and half.

Yeah I always thought Bubba was a pansy. Crappy time to go through all that with spring/summer coming up! Good luck with the surgery.

I didn't mean it as im tougher then James, I said its the same injury so you guys would know how serious of an injury I actually had, and relize how much of a idiot I am for not getting it fixed. The doctor said its still fixable but if I looked at it any later it would have been to late.
Hopefully it heals well.

Ya for sure man, good thing you got it checked out when you did. I can't really say anything because I've always been the type that hates going to the hospital. I figure if something is facing the wrong way, I'll go then, but collarbones, ribs, nose, small bones in the feet... they just never seem like they're worth the deductable.

I hope you don't mean your injury is serious by that post. A broken wrist bone is not a serious injury. A lacerated liver, punctured lung, compound fracture, concussion, etc. are serious injuries. You can't go a year and a half with a serious injury.

I'm sure he didn't mean it was a life threatening injury... just worse than previously thought

I don't think he did either, I'm just saying. I think that's what he meant but it's hard to tell reading vs. spoken.

I broke my scaphoid in my left wrist. IT SUCKED! 5 mo in a cast, isolated thumb, no surgery for me (I got lucky as hell, and used a bone growth stimulator). 1 mo with no cast, stretching A LOT, not prescribed PT.
I basically got as lucky as you can get with that break and not having surgery. I didn't want to have to deal with a pin or screw and risk that getting loose over time and having to go under the knife again to get it fixed.
Definitely get a water proof cast if you can (I don't know if you can since you will be getting surgery and all). Nice thing about that break is that you can still use that hand and arm, just make sure to just leave your thumb alone. You don't want to mess up that ****. I still went rock climbing a lot, since I worked at a summer camp that had a rock wall.
Once you get your cast off, just stretch a lot. I just sat in class, and would stretch it the whole period. Because you are going to loose a good amount of motion. Which sucks. And you're going to lose some forearm strength. Expect more arm pump then usual when you get back on the bike, until the muscle comes back and the veins and arteries expand again.
Just be prepared for a long ass heal time, wrist bones get VERY little blood supply and take forever to heal.

I advise you listen to him. Ive broken mine twice. It was hell and I have been under the knife 3 times because of that alone

The bone was pretty grinded down so they took tissue from my forearm bone and stuck it in my scaphoid bone.. Then put 2 pins threw my scaphoid bone to hold it together. Im running a splint for a few weeks then im getting a cast on for 6 weeks.

yeah, I was going to say, you should only be in a cast for 6 weeks or so. Any longer than that would be unnecessary. Glad to hear it went well! keep us updated

Thanks, I'm glad your supportive of me getting it fixed rather then being jackass's like VitalMX.
I haven't ridden in about 2 months as it is, im in no hurry to get back on the bike. I do wanna be better then ever when I come back, my wrist was really holding me back in SX/Rough stuff.

You kinda shot yourself in the foot over at vital. I wouldn't worry too much though. Heal up and take the proper amount of rest.
