10 mpg? I get about 15 if I'm lucky. What are you paying for gas where you live?

Zack-->607
06-02-2008, 04:12 PM
Yep it has the 5.9 liter motor, bigger tires, and a magna-flo exhaust (idk if the exhaust effects the mileage) Anyways gas is about $3.91-$4.00 around here. How about you?

NwMoto471

thats basically what mine looks like, or at least looked like. Its a little worse for wear with someone hitting it on the passenger side being the door and putting a good dent in that side, then a gnarly hailstorm last summer dinged up the hood and roof a bit. still runs like a champ though

Nice. If I got a truck I think thats what I would get.

Those 4 cylinder and inline 5's deliver all the power you need unless you do a lot of towing. Plus they are good on gas.

I thought about going to a silverado for a while but I love my colorado. In stock form with the z71 package and 4x4 i was getting 18 in town 21-22 on highway. with the lift and tires its about 15 town and 18 highway. they are great motors too but if you get one go with the i5 over the i4, not much improvement in gas with the 4 and a huge loss on power

I have a 2005 Taco like Demon. Same color too. Mine is the quad cab long bed and I love that truck. Crash, what makes you say they are crap?

Hey 555, I had a 2004 GMC Canyon and I don't trust those things at all. I had the I5 in it and it did have power and the fuel mileage was decent. However, within the first 5k miles, I noticed a gian cloud of blue smoke would belch out at startup. It didn't do it all the time. Just every 2 weeks or so. Blue smoke is generally created by excess oil. I figured it was rings or valve guides but the intermittent symptoms pointed away from either of them. I was baffled. Finally, they tell me that there was bad run of heads on the assembly line and I must have gotten one of them. The casting was bad and created a section on the head that was pourous. So when the conditions were right, oil would seap through the head and the only thing I could figure was that when the seapage occured when the valves were shut, it would build up on top of the valve. When I started the engine, it would just dump all that oil on top of the piston and abra cadabra, giant blue smoke cloud. They replaced my entire head for free but never gave me the entire explaination. Fast forward about 70k miles. For no reason at all, my truck suddenly lost a lot of power. It felt like one of the plug wires had come off. I inspected all of that and it all came up good. Yet, I still had this massive loss of power. I did some research and found out that these engines were prone to losing the number 5 cylinder. I think it was number 5 anyway. Regardless. I cleaned that pile up and took it to Carmax THAT DAY. They gave me a quote and I went shopping for a Toyota. I traded that GMC in for $400 more than Carmax was going to give me and I will never buy another GMC again. I know lots of people with them that have all kinds of trouble. Don't get me wrong, I loved the truck. I just couldn't rely on it.

its not really mt car, I am a poor ex MX racer who never accomplished anything so how could I afford a car like that?Aww come on give yourself some credit, a #1 plate in Canada is like winning B class at Loretta Lynns! That's pretty sick!

Ill take that. When I raced 125 B at LLs I got second to Stewy beating him in one moto so I guess thats not to bad.

How did you do again at LLs in the B class?
