I was lucky enough to attain credentials through MX Affiliate mag this year for Washougal and I had a great time. It was my first race wih credentials, so I was stoked with the outcome. A few of these will be in the September issue of MX Affiliate and you can check out the mag at mxaffiliate.com. Hope you guys like them!

Thanks guys! I was contacted by MX Affiliate's editor today and it looks like they want me to shoot at Pala for them too! Can't wait!

Congrats man! Those shots are awesome!! How did you go about getting in touch with the magazine and such? I still have a lot of growth to do as a photographer (I'm the process of getting an Associates in Photo (and a good digital SLR...)). But it's always been my dream to shoot for MX mags.

Thanks!

The first thing I would do is talk to as many photographers and editors as much as you can. I was lucky enough to talk to Davey Coombs, editor of Racer X and president of MX Sports (the organization that runs the outdoor nationals). Through him, I was able to get in contact with a few people. I also posted a lot of my photos on Vital MX to help get my stuff out there and that helped a little bit. I actually got hooked up with a magazine, suprisingly of all things, through facebook. A writer asked me if I'd like to shoot for them and of course, I took the offer.

Soo.. just ask as questions when you see a photog walking around at the races. Ask them how to get your stuff in mags and send photos to companies that might want to use them for advertisements if they are good enough. Post photos everywhere and often because it helps get your name out there. A website is always nice to have to because it makes you look a little more professional. But that's about it. Sadly, a lot of people get hooked up because of who they know and talent kind of gets thrown out the window.

Sorry it took so long to write back. Hope this helps!

My dad is friends with the publisher of Racer X, Scott Wallenberg. So maybe in a couple years I'll try to talk to him. I still have a lot of room to grow.
