MEXICO - A Texas man has been arrested for driving under the influence, falling asleep at the wheel and hitting bicyclists in a race. One person was killed and 10 others were injured when Juan Campos, apparently drunk, crashed his car into the racers riding down a highway in Monterrey, near the U.S.-Mexico border.
According to police, the drunken Campos fell asleep at the wheel. This photograph was taken by a city official at the exact moment of the accident. It happened 15 minutes into the race.
A total of 452 cyclists were participating in the 21-mile race, which was canceled after the incident.

Looks like a snapshot of a video... I got to see that one!

I would like to take this opportunity to say how much I dislike bikers on the road.

Too many times I come around a corner and almost hit a biker. Now, if I accidentally killed a biker, would I get in trouble?

They don't belong on the road, period!

I'm not saying they deserved it, I just said that they can be a pain in the ass. That includes when they don't have to be as well, and that's what gets me. Ryan625 wasn't kidding, they are ****ing everywhere here. I don't mind except when they are obviously holding up traffic. I actually applaud the people out there staying in shape and wish I had the discipline. It sucks that happened and I hope the drunk driver gets what he deserves. Is that better? Shut your mouth, you're riding around in a 4 wheeler right now and you have no idea what it's like to share the road with anyone yet considering you can't drive. I don't wish harm on any of them, but I have to admit that some of them are flirting with disaster the way they ride, it's about sharing the road and some of the bikers think they own it! I'm careful when I'm on a motorcycle and realize cars are dangerous, some cyclists around here seem to expect the cars to watch out for them and it's going to bite them sooner or later.

Reminds me of a cop attempting to charge a motorcycle group that were going 5km over the speed limit(thats about 2 or 2 miles p/h) for dangerous driving when he U-Turned on the blind corner they were coming around when he just about killed them. Or when I told someone about a bike going 110 in a 100 zone getting hit by a meth freak that pulled out in front of him and people fobbed it off on the rider traveling over the speed limit.

That's not exactly why it pisses me off. I can't stand the fact that they have a sidewalk to ride on most of the time, but they chose to be in the street. Now they are in harms way for no reason, and if they get hurt it's the motorist's fault. Plus I don't like the spandex.

They are a HUGE inconvenience, and thats all it is. We have walking paths all throughout Plano for pedestrians and cyclist. OMG you guys are pathetic.

Whats wrong with me wanting to see a video? People always watch videos of people crashing and getting hurt.

If you are that into pandering or that sensitive than you are going to have a difficult time in life.

Yes, the drunk driver deserves a beating! I agree. I don't have sympathy for idiots riding a bicyle on the road with CARS! If I died riding a street bike on the road would you give a damn? No. A streetbike is dangerous because it doesn't provide much protection. A cycle is worse, and if your stupid enough to ride one on a street designed for cars and you die, I don't care.

I went to school on a big campus with the same thing you are talking about and that didn't bother me at all. It's different when every overcrowded highway is even more packed with bikers and some of them don't have the courtesy to stay off the line and hold up traffic. It's not a campus/downtown thing with lights or slow speeds, it's on the highway where the speed limit is 45 to 65 and lots of traffic that I'm talking about. Or something like this is pretty typical here....

Ah yes it does make a difference. Watching people get hit by a car, if that makes you laugh, then whatever. Watching a person get hit by a car and die, then you laugh, well then you have serious problems. How you find humor and entertainment in death, i'll never know. Remember this isnt a movie, its REAL.
And you said a bunch of people watch videos of poeple getting hurt, how old are you lee? Isnt this the oldest excuse in the book? Oh and by the way, billions of people pray to a form of God, so shouldnt you also? I mean a billion people cant be wrong according to your logic, just sayn...

Are you for real?

I never said I find it funny. ?!?!? Where did I say I find humor in it?

And Im 25 but apparently my reading comprehension is light years ahead of yours.

And of course I know it was a race. Did I say they deserved to get hit?

No, seeing people die doesn't bother me too much. Seeing some bikers get hit by a car would be very low on my list of crazy things I have seen.

And as far as my "logic".. no, I don't do what others do just for doing it. I was just making a point that people in general like to see destruction.

I suggest you lighten up and not take tragic events to heart so much. **** happens, people die. Thats life.

He's way older now and that was a very long time ago. He is now one of the best motor builders in Colorado.

I recently started to road bike. i mainly take to the country roads to avoid traffic but am always courteous to the cars trying to get around me, always sticking as close to the edge of the road as possible. Great way to get into/stay in shape.

Sucks what happened to those riders. The guy was drunk though, so I don't know why this turned into a "hate bikers" thread, and yes, there are some idiotic bikers out there that DO think they own the road, but you just gotta give em the honk and let them know you're there and they need to move instead of just plowing through a group of them and killing some people lol. But really, it's sad.

The only reason cyclist bother me is this...

If I accidentally kill one because its around a sharp corner and they are in the way, I would probably get in trouble.

Thats not right and ****ed up.

The road is for MOTORized vehicles. NOT bicycles! Period.

IF THERE IS NO BIKE LANE, THERE SHOULD BE NO BIKE.

Ride at your own risk.
It is your responsibility to look where you are going to make sure there's nobody. If you hit a car, you are responsible. It should be the same if you hid a bicycle or a pedestrian.

And just FYI,
road - definition of road by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia. (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/road)
It doesn't mention motor vehicles specifically. Same thing for the Chamber dictionary. Just because you travel in a metal box doesn't make you any more important.

My mistake, I assumed you wamted to watch it because you find it humorous, honestly just because I dont know of another reason someone would want to watch it????
You said I shouldnt take tragic event to heart, Lee, I guess you and I are just 2 very different people. I thought thats why its called a tragedy, "6.a lamentable, dreadful, or fatal event or affair; calamity; disaster"
Why someone would choose to watch it and say theyve seen worse, so why not watch it some more, is disgusting to me.
It has nothing to do with being a baby, or a wuss, or whatever, it has to do with respect. By the way, didnt you get pissed at the teachers for faking deaths? Who cares man, its life, stuff happens, people die. those kids should be okay, its just life:smiley:

What the hell's a pipe layer?? A pipe layer is a man that has gained carnal knowledge in the fine art of plumbing. any man can do it but few are good at it.

I guess Im use to watching those "amazing videos" TV shows so my initial reaction was wanting to see the video.

I don't go around wanting to see people get hurt. I think you got the wrong impression of me.

I was pissed about the teachers because I don't feel they have a right to act that way. Like I said, I had a friend kill themselves because her boyfriend died. You don't play with people like that.

Anyways, its all good.
